- Pick a niche, that is unique and which isn't saturated. If you can't pick such a niche, focus on doing things in a very different/refreshing way.
- Find where the users who are interested in your niche hangout. Engage at a community level and add value individually 1-on-1.
- Be consistent.
- Get your audience to share your content. Create incentives to drive this behavior.
- People crave authenticity - that leads to credibility. Credibility >> distribution. Say the truth, be controversial, don't be diplomatic.
- Early adopters of a platform have a leg up.
- It should be fun for you, should feel like work for others.
- Always be creating & tinkering - you will eventually find something that works.
My thoughts -
- Not too sure about sticking to a specific niche - what if I change my interests in the future?
- Newsletter - will attract an audience that doesn't mind reading (founders, investors)
- Podcasts - will attract a larger audience, is more engaging, more glamour, as listening is easier than reading. Slightly harder to create content. I will not own my audience, it will always be on spotify/anchor etc.
- YouTube/video - will attract the largest audience base, very engaging. Hard to create content. YouTube will own my audience.
